Bravery of Mannu Story: Mannu was a Bhalu child, who lived in the mountain forest with his mother Abu and two younger brothers. Every year before winter, he and his family would gather food for the winter. Being the elder brother, he would often Ami used to go hunting with Abu. But this year there was an unexpected dearth of hunting.
Neither they could find fish in the flowing river nor rabbits etc. Honey was not even visible on the trees. All the animals were worried about this situation like Mannu’s parents. Although they slept most of the winter. However, food was necessary. If they did not collect food now, how would they survive the whole winter. Mannu was also very worried seeing his parents’ trouble.
He was not fully aware of the situation, but he also had an idea of the shortage of food. He wanted to help his family in this difficult time. One day, without telling Ami Abu, he left his cave and walked towards the river. After descending a low slope between the trees for a long time, he realized that he had lost his way. He thought that he might find a source of food by taking this path, so he continued on.
Going further, he saw a cave. At first, he hesitated to see it, but then he entered the cave, which was quite long. Actually, it was a tunnel made by some people. After walking for a long time, Mannu saw a big box. Out of curiosity, he opened the box and inside it there were different types of fish, including his favorite fish.
He was very happy. He looked around and saw more boxes. He opened all of them in turn, including a deer, a rabbit and a deer. Seeing all this, Mannu’s happiness knew no end. Mother, father and brother were very worried. It was getting dark but Mannu was still nowhere to be found. They searched for him everywhere, other Bhalu were also searching for him.
A Bhalu told his parents that I have seen a new tunnel, with some people in it. Mannu’s father, the chief of the Bhalu and five Bhalu went towards the tunnel with him, it took a long time to reach there. By this time, it was pitch black but there were lights and sounds coming from the tunnel.
All the Bhalu cautiously moved towards the tunnel, when they got closer, they heard a conversation, they were saying, “Today, a big victim has come to our hands.” We will get a lot of money for this animal, just hide it and smuggle it. It is not dead, so we have to be very careful.
Hearing this, all the Bhalu said that Mannu is in their possession. They immediately went inside and attacked them. They were about ten to fifteen people, but seeing the Bhalu, they lost their senses. Didn’t even get a chance to go to Hasan.
Out of fear, they left everything and fled to save their lives. After they left, Mannu found him unconscious in a sack. Sardar Bhalu brought water from the river and brought Mannu to his senses. Seeing him, Mannu told him about the fishes, deer, rabbits and markhors, which They were all very happy to see that food for the winter had been arranged.
They returned to their abode with the food. In the morning, when all the Bhaluvs heard about Mannu’s return and the stock of food, there was a wave of joy in the population of the Bhaluvs. They all praised Mannu for his bravery. A feast was organized in connection with the feat. And thus all the Bhaluvs passed the winter very peacefully with the bravery of Mannu.
